Abstract

The Overseas Development Institute is one of the UK’s leading Think Tanks on International Development. Working since 1960 on a wide range of development policy issues, the organization aims to inspire and inform policy and practice which lead to the reduction of poverty, by locking together high quality applied research, practical policy advice, and policyfocused dissemination and debate.

Author Biography

John Young

John Young has worked for over 20 years in Africa and Asia on rural livelihoods and public sector reform issues. Since joining ODI, he has worked on decentralisation and rural services, information and information systems, and strengthening southern research capacity. He developed ODI’s programme of work on the interface between research and policy (the RAPID Programme). He is now Director of Programmes for the RAPID Group, and manages the Civil Society Partnerships Programme.
