Using participatory photography to stimulate critical thinking: collaborative action-research in Australia and Tanzania

Abstract

Do you see what I see? and At Risk? are the titles of the two Master’s in Communication for Development theses that resulted from two independent participatory photography projects with the same methodology in order to allow a comparison of the results.

Author Biographies

Cassandra Doyle

Cassandra Doyle completed her Master’s in Communication for Development in 2010 whilst located in Central Australia. Given her background in health, she found the link between public health issues and development studies extremely interest. While still working as a nurse, she hopes to continue pursuing research linking health and development.

Karen Thulstrup

Karen Marie Thulstrup started out completely new to the field of Communication for Development with a Bachelor in Comparative Literature. She completed her Master’s degree in Communication for Development at Malmö University in Sweden in 2010, wishing to know and do more within this field. She is now working as a practitioner with a focus on research in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
