As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • Regarding republication of already published material (or material that is before consideration at another journal): JoTL allows republication of previous material if the journal where it is published in approves of that. You as author has the responsibility if this is the case.
  • Submissions must be word-files (.doc or .docx).There is a word template that has the formats for headings and body text etc. that the contributions must follow.
    If, after review, your contribution is approved for publication, at some point in the process you will need to place your text in this word template. You can of course also use it before you submit your contribution.
  • References are made using APA 7.
  • All contributions are are assessed acording to the following criteria.

Types of Contributions

Contributions may be any of the following. Please note that we encourage contributions that include forms other than written text (eg with visual focus or features), where appropriate.

Articles (5000 words or less including abstracts)
Contributions may consist of articles, methodological or theoretical / conceptually oriented articles, or literature reviews. Contributions should be saturated by a scientific approach and contain a well-defined question and link to relevant scientific literature. Abstract should be available in both Swedish and English.
Reviewed by the editorial board.

Reflection (5000 words or less including abstracts)
Critics, analysis and questions based on experience in conducting, leading or studying educational activities within the university. Starting points as well as descriptions of situations and processes should be well-founded. Abstract should be available in both Swedish and English.

Conference contribution (Scope, 2-3000 words or less including abstracts)
The contributions consist of accepted conference submissions at a conference organized within Malmö University. Contributions should be saturated by a scientific approach and contain a well-defined question and link to relevant scientific literature. Abstract should be available in both Swedish and English.
Reviewed by the journal's editorial staff and scientifically responsible for the current conference.

The journal's (JoTL) editorial board determines whether the submitted contribution is relevant in the light of the purpose and focus of the journal. The magazine allows for republication of texts.
