Ett handledarperspektiv på relationen mellan handledare och student –En reflektion i anslutning till en högskolepedagogisk kurs

Abstract

The supervision of student theses is mainly directed at concrete aspects, such as providing feedback on texts. This text switches focus to the relationship between the supervisor and the student and argues that this is a fundamental and perhaps sometimes overlooked part of the supervision process. Departing from the fact that there is always some kind of relationship between the supervisor and the student, this reflection describes a supervisor’s perspective on this relationship. This includes reflections regarding the formation of relationships and what we may do to improve them. Other aspects are also discussed, including student independence and the relationship after completion of the thesis. Some obstacles to establishing a good relationship are also highlighted.
